Please ensure that you have the list of requirements specified below before proceeding with the online application. If you meet challenges in the online application process, please contact Mr Alleyne Coleman via email (colemanad@ukzn.ac.za) and notify him once you have successfully completed your application:

Internal Applicants (Students who studied at UKZN Only)

There is no need to provide an academic record, school-leaving certificate or degree certificates, as these records are easily accessible to the staff approving the application. Internal students are only required to upload a copy of their ID /Passport (for verification purposes) as well as the following documents, which you can upload as one document and name it “research overview”.

International & Other National University Applicants

Previous qualification(s) obtained at foreign universities (i.e. outside South Africa) need to be verified by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) evaluations. You can access SAQA on this link (www.saqa.org.za). You will have to wait for the SAQA evaluation before you can complete your UKZN online application.

Applicants are required to upload a copy of your ID/Passport, National Senior/Matric Certificate or O/A Levels or relevant school leaving qualification/certificate, degree certificate(s) and academic record if you attended other universities as well as the following documents, which you can upload as one document and name it “research overview”.

There is no closing date, and admission will be granted for either semester 1 or 2 of the academic year.
Please remember to pay the appropriate application fee and note that the system can take 24 to 48 hrs to clear your payment, which will allow us to view your documentation. If the school accepts your application, you will receive email correspondence guiding you on the next level of process.
