Bio

  • My name is Munyaradzi Felix Murove. I hold a doctorate in Ethics from the University of South Africa (UNISA). I am an ethicist by profession. Currently I am a Senior Lecturer at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, School of Religion, Philosophy and Classics. I am an ethicist by profession. I have taught ethics modules at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. My main focus in the teaching of ethics is mainly in African Ethics and applied African Ethics. In 2003, I introduced third year Ethics module called African Ethics and the Post-Colonial Condition – a module that is entirely focused on African Ethics.

I have supervised ethics at Masters and Doctoral levels and I am still supervising 12 PhD candidates who are all doing applied ethics from a variety of discipline backgrounds. The majority of my PhD candidates are doing their research in Ethics and Peace and Security issues in the world as well as in Africa. Some of them are focusing on Business Ethics and Indigenisation.

I have edited 16 chapters from different scholars who contributed  to African Ethics: An Anthology of Comparative and Applied Ethics, from all over Africa and beyond since 2005 up to 2009. This effort was aimed at developing African Ethics from a more comprehensive perspective. The fruits of this research endeavour have now been realised in the publication of this anthology by UKZN press in 2009. In this research project I managed to collaborate with world renown scholars such as Ali Mazrui and other scholars of outstanding academic reputation in the African continent and beyond. The development of African Ethics has remained my main area of research as this can be seen from most of my publications as outlined below.

I am currently involved in researching on applied African Ethics with specific reference to issues of Peace and Security in the World.
